Things to think about if you are considering lease purchasing a home:
- Down Payment – how much do you want to put down? As a general rule, the more you put down the lower your monthly payment will be.
- Monthly payment – what do you want your monthly payment to be? Make sure you are considering your monthly budget. Remember, renting to own is very often a 'homeowner in training' program, and you have to make repairs due to wear and tear, as opposed to calling your landlord. While some landlords make exceptions, you can upgrade the home as you like, so that is something to keep in mind – you may want to make impro vements to the home, if your goal is to ultimately buy it.
